Crystallized Vegetation

Crystalized Vegetation
Integrated Facades
The goal of this project was to design a functional facade that was aesthetically pleasing as well as environmentally sound and cost effective.  Crystalized Vegetation is a facade design that utilizes plant life as an eco-barrier for both solar gain and natural ventilation.  The vegetation on the east facade creates a filtration system that takes the hot air from outside and cools it down as it reaches the interior.  The plant life also serves as an eco-friendly shading system.  The design is fairly simple to construct due to its panelized form as well as the fact that it is a stick built system.  The design lends itself to the unforgiving climate of Dallas, TX by providing the needed solar protection while still harvesting natural ventilation and daylight.
